Albena Mihaylova - benji artist and curator
Born in 1959 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
1984 Graduated МА in print graphics, Sofia Academy of Fine Arts.
1998 Graduated Masterclass Video Art, FHNW Academy of Arts and Design, Basel,
and studied Audio Design at Music Academy, Basel.
2009–2014 Studied documentary and author's cinema under the European programs MEDIA, Focal
and East Doc Platform. Director and producer of the documentary DISTANCIA, Best
International Film Award, Aegean Doc 2018.
Works in video art and performance, installation and documentary.
Since 2009 founder and artistic director of the AM Contemporary Basel, with curated
exhibitions at the International Art Fire Liste19, Basel, and Art Biennale Venice, 2022.
Publisher of the catalog Women on the Edge, 2021.
Lives and works in Basel, Switzerland.
